TRACK 35 - BASSES "These basses are all the kind I used on the PSBs last tour." TRACK 36 - HEAVY MIDI MOOG BASS NO. 1 "This is a particularly nice patch for a really heavy bass which I've used with the PSBs, Asward and, funnily enough, the big GM! It works well for riffs/patterns that DON'T go too low." MIDI MOOG BASS NO. 2 "More of a typical Moog bass - good for faster bass lines (e.g. PSBs or New York Funk), it also sounds good a bit higher up." TRACK 37- PADS "I've found these three pads which I'll use when I'm stuck. They're useful because they're rich enough texturally but don't clog up tracks by being too thick. My constatnt battle is getting a pad that will mark out the chordal movement, but doesn't get in the way!" COMPOSITE PAD "This is a pad that has a little 'ping' at the front end which means each note in a chord can be heard. It's from my D550 and MKS80. It sounds a bit strange when you hear single notes, but believe me it does sound great in a track (promise!). Also the cycling of the D550 element makes it sound like a stretched sample - it's not." TRACK 38- MKS80 RACKET "This is a beast of a sound that works best when hit hard! It's not subtle and works well being gated from an HH pulse track to produce a sequencer type effect. I used this for "Where the streets have no name"." MSK80 SEQUENCE NOISE "Good for 8th or 16th note sequences." TRACK 39 - SUBLIMINAL TOP-END NOISE "This is a sound I've discovered that will add subliminal top end to a track, especially if the track has lots of lo-fi loops or sounds in it and you need some high frequencies to balance it out. On its own it sounds appaling, but if you play a rhythmical riff that fits the track, especially in the top octabe, it will give the whole track a subliminal top end. Only cats and bats can hear it, but, again, honestly, it works. e.g. GM, Living in a Box, etc." BIRDS/AMBIENCE "This is really good for intros or Mid 8/Bridges where you want some ambience. I use this sort of thing as a bed and add appropriate noises on top."
