Featuring GROOVE CONTROL™

Ethno Techno features a revolutionary way to work with drum grooves. Groove Control™, developed by ILIO and Spectrasonics, lets you change the tempo, pattern, feel and even the mix of all of the grooves on the enclosed Sampler CD-ROMs, using just your existing sampler and sequencer. In order to use Groove Control, you must have the SAMPLER CD-ROM version. The AUDIO CD does not allow you to experience the amazing benefits of Groove Control.

Our exclusive Groove Control method gives you a very simple way to change the tempo and feel of stereo loops right from your sequencer.

Here's all you have to do to use it:

1) This Data CD contains all of the Groove Control sequences. Double clicking on the Ethno Techno disc icon will reveal folders containing these files.

2) Locate the folder containing files for your sequencer of choice. Native sequences are provided for:

Emagic Logic for Mac and PC

Steinberg Cubase 4.1 & higher for Mac (Arrangements)

Steinberg Cubase 3.5 & higher for PC (Arrangements)

Cakewalk for PC

MOTU Performer 5.5 & higher for Mac

Opcode Vision 4.2 & higher for Mac

For convenience, copy the folder for the sequencer you use to your computer's internal hard drive. If you use a different sequencer or earlier software revisions of these Programs, use your sequencer's import function to load the correct sequence from the Ethno Techno MIDI files folder. If you use a hardware sequencer, a keyboard workstation, or an Atari computer, please check out the READ ME file in the "Hardware Sequencers" folder for more detailed info.

3) From your sequencer, locate, load and play the sequence that corresponds with the Groove Control program on your sampler.

At this point, the best thing to do is experiment. Mute and solo tracks in your sequencer to hear how grooves interact and to get different mixes. Change the tempo on the sequencer and the loop will follow! Quantize or swing the sequence to change the feel. Change the tuning of the patch/program in the sampler to use the loop in a different key, without changing the tempo! Don't forget that the individual slices can also be used to sequence your own unique patterns as well.
