Thank you for purchasing a Pro Samples CD-ROM library disk! You hard drive has a sub-folder inside the Emagic folder entitled "Sampler Instruments" that is used by the EXS24 sampler to access .EXS instrument files. When using ProSamples with the EXS24 sampler on an Apple Mac computer, simply drag and drop the EXS folder from your ProSamples CD-ROM into this "Sampler Instruments" sub-folder. The EXS folder will then be copied to that sub-folder. This copying process should also be done when running the EXS24 sampler on a Windows/PC computer. However, when copying files from a CD-ROM to the internal hard disk using the Windows operating system, a file "Lock" or write-protect software switch is automatically set to be active. This creates a problem for those users who are using the Windows/PC version of the Emagic EXS24 sampler because EXS24 Windows will not open a sampler instrument file that is locked. One workaround is to disable the write-protect software switch by opening each of the copied .EXS file's properties menu and turning write protect off. Whew! That's too much work and there's a better workaround. In order to make it easier than disabling write protect on each and every copied .EXS file, we have included a .ZIP file that contains the entire folder of .EXS files on each ProSamples CD-ROM disk. Simply use WinZip to create a new EXS folder inside the "Sampler Instruments" sub-folder. Doing it this way insures that no copy protection is active on any of the newly copied EXS instrument files. Therefore, the EXS sampler can immediately use these files. Happy Music Making! The Pro Samples Team
